Both of the older Roch men were employees of the Company of the West.

Françoise II and Marie II had been named after their paternal aunts. Françoise I was the widow of Antoine Phillipe de Marigny, Ecuyer, Sieur de Mandeville, a titular knight of the French aristocracy. The title "Ecuyer" means "keeper of the horses."

Jean Baptiste was the son of Jean Baptiste, père, also surnamed Rejas, and Marie Madeleine Cloutier, who had been born in Quebec 15 May 1657 and died 24 Jan 1721. Their marriage occurred c. 1704. It was the third marriage for Marie Madeleine, who had ten children by her previous marriages. Jean Baptiste LaPrade, fils, was her eleventh child.

The Cloutier family originated in the parish of Saint-Jean-Baptiste-de-Mortagne. The name originally meant nail-makers, although by the sixteenth century the use of the patronym was not restricted.
The patriarch of this family was Denis Cloutier who was married to Renée Brière. Denis and René had four children before Renée's death on 1 May 1608.
The oldest child, Zacharie, was born c. 1590. Jacques was baptized 16 Mar 1601; Claude was baptized 17 Mar 1605, and Loyse, christened 22 Feb 1608 and buried on 3 Mar of the same year.

Additional children of Denis Cloutier were Michel, Renée, Nicholas, Louis and Catherine. They were probably children of Renée but no record exist to determine which wife was the mother.
On 18 Jul 1616, Zacharie, the oldest son, married Sainte (also Xainte) Dupart at St. Jean de Mortagne au perche, Departement de l'Orne, France. Sainte had been born at Feings in 1596 and was the widow of Michel Lermusier.

Each man would be given a few head of livestock plus one thousand arpends of land with the right to build on it, in addition to the right to hunt, fish and trade with the Indians.

On 27 Jul 1636, Zacharie made a marriage contract with Robert Drouin for him to marry Anne, Zacharie's ten and a half year old daughter, with the agreement that the marriage would not be consummated until Anne was thirteen.
Zacherie prospered in Quebec, acquiring land and money until his death on 17 Nov 1677. Xainte died three years later on 14 Jul 1680.
Zacherie, fils, married Madeleine Barbe Emard (also Esmard, Aymard, Esmart, and Eymard) on 4 April 1648 at St. Barthéleme in La Rochelle, France. They had eight children, 5 boys and 3 girls, including Marie-Madeleine.
